WTP’S 2011 Ethel Woolson Lab Completes Its Winning Season With

THE JEW-CATCHER [DER JUDEFÄNGER] by David L. Fisher, Tues., Nov. 15th, 7:30 p.m., Academy Theatre, 119 Center St., Avondale Estates, Ga.

The Jew-Catcher [DER JUDEFÄNGER] by David L. Fisher
In 1961 Los Angeles a Holocaust survivor recognizes the man who decades earlier tricked her and her family out of hiding and into the hands of the Gestapo. Rather than go to the authorities, she takes the matter to the elders of her synagogue. They set into motion an investigation that insinuates two young people into the man’s life, employs agents across two continents and plumbs the depths of two war torn souls. What they find darkens the lives of them all. What they wanted was truth and justice. What they learn is that sometimes the two are strangers.
Directed by Melissa Foulger.  Dramaturgy by Addae Moon.  With Jim Donadio, Elliott Grey, Peter Hardy, Boyd Gossett, Cynthia Barrett, Jo Howarth, Whitney Millsap, and Judith Beasley.

Working Title Playwrights (WTP) is proud to present this new play as part of its signature series, The Ethel Woolson Lab (TEWL). In TEWL, WTP member playwrights are given the opportunity to develop their competitively selected scripts with a team of professional actors, director and dramaturg over the course of a week culminating in a staged reading for the public. Audience participation in an engaging talkback session with the playwright after the reading is a vital component of the development process.

The 24-HR Plays Are BACK THIS WEEKEND!! Sunday March 13, 8pm Onstage Atlanta $15

One of the most popular kamikaze events in Atlanta theatre history is returning, presented by Working Title Playwrights, with producing partner Onstage Atlanta. About 100 bold artists will convene at Onstage Atlanta to write, direct, and perform eight short plays in the span of 24 hours.

It’s bold. It’s risky. The mantra of the 24-Hour Plays has always been: This ain’t theatre for crybabies.

On Saturday, March 12, 2011, 16 writers will meet at 10pm at Onstage Atlanta. Paired randomly, they will have until dawn to come up with eight 12-minute scripts. Eight directors come in at 9am and cast their plays from sixty headshots submitted by our brave thespians. Then it’s a marathon day of rehearsing, staging, costuming, and setting tech for an 8:00 p.m. curtain on Sunday, March 13th. The show ends at 10pm, exactly 24 hours after the writers first convened.

This year’s exciting group of writers includes Johnny Drago, Kristin Kalbli, Paris Crayton III, Laura Carson, Neeley Gossett, Candi Dugas, Alka Roy, Jamie Lord, Jordan Pullium, Collen Hammond Whitmore, Rachel Teagle, Nick Boretz, Amina McIntyre, Raymond Fast, David Fisher and Theroun Patterson!

Their eight brilliant plays will be directed by Matthew Roberts, Sylvia Davenport-Veith, Joanie McElroy, Park Cofield, Carolyn Choe, Steve Banks, Sally Robertson and Pamela Turner!

Come play with us! SUNDAY, MARCH 13, 2011 @ ONSTAGE ATLANTA
